- At 35, I'm in the group that many still consider "young'uns", yet I am always amazed at the lack of civility that is becoming so prevalent in the US today...I was recently shopping at a bead shop and getting a little excited about the "goodies" I was going home with that day.

- As others have mentioned, sharing contacts isn't a problem...That's how I got my first job....My mom got me set up with a summer job program they had for employee's children where she worked. I got no special treatment or favors - all it did was get me in the door.

- I don't even like pickles, but I am SO tired of the misogynistic (or at least degrading) lyrics of Nickelback's songs...I liked them when they first came out, but as time goes on, their songs are more and more degrading to women, and I just don't care for that...

The comment itself didn't show respect to participants in the Special Olympics so it's right to be sensitive about it. However, I think the president in his heart of hearts doesn't disrespect Special Olympics participants so as long as he shows support and respect to these individuals in the future, I hope people can move past this incident.

I'm offended because:

1. Most folks who would use a disabled person's condition to "make a joke" would NEVER walk a mile in the shoes of anyone who is living with a disability. As a parent, I live it 24/7/365...

2. Because Obama's a liberal, the media [and you] are pleading the 5th.

3. Had a conservative made the comment, say Franklin Graham or James Dobson, the media would utterly DESTROY him.

4. You need more? GROW UP!!!

We need to love and care for those with special needs, not use them to make condescending statements. THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
